What are your soap ingredients?

We start with oils.  The most common ones, which are used in almost every bar, are Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Castor Oil and Canola Oil.  Some soaps incorporate other oils, such as Rosehip Seed Oil, Argan Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil.

Many of the soaps include luxurious butters, such as Shea Butter, Mango Butter and Cocoa Butter

Our soaps are colored with plant materials, natural clays and minerals.

All of our soaps are scented with natural ingredients including essential oils, resins and cocoa butter.

Some soaps will have other elements added to enhance the function or visual appeal of the soap.  These elements are also listed with each product and may include things like pumice, oatmeal, raw honey, ground coffee, natural luffa or dried herbs or flower petals.

Does your soap contain lye?

All soap is made with lye (sodium hydroxide), but due to a process called saponification, there is no lye in the finished soap.

Lye is used to turn the oils into soap and the lye is 'used up' in the process.

If there was no lye in the process, the product could not be called soap, but would be called 'cleanser' or 'beauty bar' and would likely have other ingredients, such as detergents, to create lather and remove oils from the skin.

Are your soaps super fragrant?

We use 100% essential oils in our scented soaps, which means the scent saturation can naturally vary.

You will be able to detect the scent from the bar itself and have a lovely experience of the scent while using, but it will not leave a heavy scent on your skin.

Some of the soaps with no scent added may carry the scent of the soap ingredients, such as Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter.

How to make soap last longer

The most important way to make your soap last is to allow it to completely dry between uses.  Any soap rack or soap dish that elevates the soap out of standing water will help preserve your soap, as well as keeping it out of shower spray when not using.
